Understanding the test

The TENASOSP, the exam from Grade 8 to the 1st year of the Humanités

The national selection and school and career guidance test (Test national de sélection et d’orientation scolaire et professionnelle) is the transition exam from Grade 8 of basic education to the 1st year of the Humanités (secondary school). It closes basic education, assesses what students have learned and guides them towards the track that best matches their aptitudes.

Who takes it?

Grade 8 students of basic education (formerly the 2nd year of the orientation cycle), across the country and in centres opened abroad.

Organised by

The Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship (MINEDU-NC). The test is provided for by the 2014 framework law on national education (article 193).

Format

Two days: tests on curriculum subjects (mathematics, sciences, French…) and psychometric tests focused on aptitudes.

Purpose

To allow progression to the 1st year of the Humanités and guide each student towards general, technical or vocational secondary education, according to their skills, aptitudes and the country’s needs.

Since 2022

The first edition was launched on 14 July 2022 in Lubumbashi. The test has been held every year since.

A national test

1,590,471 candidates in 2025 and 1,654,905 in 2026, nearly 48% of them girls.

Yekola TENASOSP is a private preparation platform published by Yekola SARL. The official test is organised exclusively by the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship.

What is the TENASOSP?

Does Yekola organise the official test?

No. Yekola TENASOSP is a private preparation platform published by Yekola SARL. The official test, its dates and its results fall exclusively under the Ministry.

Who can create an account?

Any Grade 8 student, or any student preparing for it. As students are minors, a parent or legal guardian must accept the privacy policy and terms of use before the account is opened.

Why is parental consent required?

Because the platform processes children’s data. The parent decides, keeps oversight and may at any time request access to, correction or deletion of their child’s data.

Does the platform work on phones?

Yes. It is designed for phones, tablets and computers, with light pages suited to mobile connections.

How can a school enrol its students?
